Social Theory Applied (STA) is an established, multi-authored website that aims to create an interactive space of ‘public intellectualism’. STA’s core purpose is to explore links between theory, research, policy and/or practice from a wide range of disciplinary perspectives. In wanting to expand its authorship and discussion space, the STA editors welcome contributions to the blog, and/or other featured initiatives supported by STA, such as journals’ special editions, events, etc.
STA invites individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, disciplines and career stages to submit new blog-post style pieces (250-700 words) on, but not limited to, the following topics:
- The relationship between research and practice
- The application of research methodologies
- Reflections on theory as method
- The link between one’s research and current affairs
- The application of theory to practice and/or policy
- Book reviews
- Responses to publications
- Critiques and/or advancements of theory (questioning the ‘sacred cows’)
All contributions published on STA will be accompanied by a picture and a short biographical note of the author, and links to her/his online profile. Audio, video, and picture essay contributions are also welcome. All contributions will be licensed under a Creative Commons Licence and open to comments by STA’s readers as a form of generating discussion. Comments will be moderated to ensure the discussion is constructive and that the netiquette protocol is observed.
Submissions to the blog are open all year around.
